Title: Annual Club Championships
Posted on: Sunday, December 17, 2006, 13:26 PM

Once again we have just held our annual Club Championships, in our new venue - The Stanway School, with great success. We were able to include our very new beginners who only started in September 2006. The team event went down very well and was enjoyed by all. Several judoka won their first ever gold trophies/medals. In particular, George Hindle and Jacob Sowman did extremely well in their groups as 7 year olds - both winning gold. Our Judoka of the Year was Matthew Steward who, whilst winning gold in his individual group, could not take part in the team event because of a broken collar bone (due to playing rugby the day before!) Both Matthew Steward and Sunil Abeyasekera have been put forward for their Junior Assistant Judo Instructor awards, which is very pleasing as they both started judo with us as novices. Sunil has also achieved his 6th kokyu grade this year. Thank you to the parents and judoka who have supported the club throughout 2006. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. We look forward to your return on Friday 5th January 2007.

Title: IMPORTANT INFORMATION on CHANGE OF VENUE
Posted on: Saturday, June 10, 2006, 11:18 AM

Please note that we will be moving to a new training dojo in September 2006. Philip Morant School will no longer host evening activities from July this year. This means that we have had to find a new dojo. After much searching, we are pleased to announce that our new venue will be:
The Gym at The Stanway School & College, Winstree Road, Colchester, Essex CO3 0QA
The car park and entrance to the gym is at the rear. We shall continue to train on Friday evenings and at the same times. Either Dale or I will let you know the exact date that the September term will start. Meanwhile, we continue as usual at Philip Morant until our last training night on Friday 21st July.

The AJA South East Area Team Championships were held last weekend at Highwoods Leisure Centre and Stanway Judo Club came away with an impressive haul of medals. The event consisted of local teams and some from Norfolk with both Juniors under 16 and Seniors taking part. Stanway's results follow.
