Title: Annual Club Championships
Posted on: Monday, December 12, 2005, 19:04 PM

Well done to all those who entered our Annual Club Championships. Once again it was a great success and enjoyed by all. Lots of new trophy winners and awards too. The 'Most Improved Judoka' was CHRIS ELLIS, who has shown a great improvement in the sport and has the right attitude and etiquette. Our 'Judoka of the Year' award went to CAITLIN RICE, who has worked her way into the second class. Despite being the youngest, she has a lot of determination and is willing to learn. She gives her all. Congratulations to all the competitors as without you this annual event could not take place. Thank-you also to all members that have renewed their membership promptly. This makes my job easier when collecting and sending them to our Area Secretary in one go instead of dribs and drabs. Have a good Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all on Friday 6th January 2006. If you have any friends/relatives from 14 years upwards (including adults) who would like to try judo, then do please come along at 7.00pm.

Title: White Gi's for Area Competitions and Gradings
Posted on: Wednesday, November 2, 2005, 18:50 PM

At the Area meeting on Sunday it was confirmed that some standards were beginning to slip in the area and, as from January, only WHITE GI's are to be worn by competitors at all A.J.A. Area events, ie competitions and gradings. This has always been in the rule book and must be adhered to. Good luck to the judokas who are entering the 'Novice to Orange' competition on Sunday.

Title: A.J.A. National Closed Event
Posted on: Sunday, May 1, 2005, 21:09 PM

Recently MATTHEW PASCOE and MATTHEW STEWARD represented Stanway at the A.J.A. National Closed event held in Birmingham. Whilst they didn't win a trophy, they both gained a lot of experience and Matthew Steward was only one contest away from a position. Better luck next time, keep trying.
