Title: Annual Club Championships

Our very successful Club Championships were held on Friday 5th and 12th December, with a great turnout
for both dates. It was nice to see so many parents staying to encourage their children in the sport
of judo. The team event was a real enthusiastic occasion with the theme this year being 'Nemo'.
Merit awards for 2003 were awarded to Kane Healy, Callum McLaughlin, Matthew O'Reilly, Gregory Vincent,
Jack Tuxford, Joseph Davey and Jack Knightley. The 'Most Improved Player' was Jennifer Gallifent whose
performance against the boys was very determined and won Silver in the weight group.
Our 'Judoka of the Year' was Liam Walsh, it was a joy to see the surprise on his face.
Once again, many thanks to the parents who have supported the club in one way or another.

Well done to all those judoka who were upgraded on Sunday 9th November.
This year's Annual Club Championships will be held on Friday 5th and Friday 12th December 2003.
We return after the Christmas break on 9th January 2004.

Title: Training begins again on 19th September

Hope all judoka enjoyed their Summer break. Reminder that training
commences on Friday 19th September. Any new Seniors interested in
taking part are welcome to turn up on the 19th 7.00 - 8.00pm.

Title: Team Event Results

Congratulations goes to our senior members who obtained GOLD in
the South Eastern Area Invitational team event, which was held on
Sunday 6th July. Also well done to the 10 and over junior team
who obtained a BRONZE medal.

Title: AJA NATIONALS (CLOSED)

Congratulations to EMILY HUGHES after attending the nationals for a few
years and gaining Bronze last year, sheer determination and training has
paid off as this year Emily is a National Champion for 2003 and her gold
position has earned her a place in the National Squad to represent England.
So far a good year as she has recently earned her Junior Brown Belt at the
grading.
Her sister KATIY HUGHES also became runner up in the 16-18 year olds - this
entitles Katiy to wear the squad 2003 badge as well.
Well done to you both from all your friends at the club.

No training on these Fridays:
28th March, April 18th and 25th, May 16th and 30th.
Apart from the school holidays, the other dates are because the school have the gym for a function
- sorry out of our control.
